New car launches in India in February 2024

Here is a look at all the important car launches expected to take place in Aug 2023.

BMW M2

The first units of the second-generation BMW M2 have landed in India ahead of the model’s official launch. The new M2, which made its global debut in October last year, is expected to be introduced in the Indian market this month.

The M2 uses the same 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline 6-cylinder engine that powers the M3 and M4. However, it has been slightly de-tuned to 453 BHP and 550 Nm. The engine is mated to either an 8-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual.

BMW X3 M40i

BMW has started accepting bookings for the X3 M40i xDrive in India. The SUV will be available in limited units and can be booked at the BMW Online Shop by paying a token amount of Rs 5 lakh.

The X3 M40i is powered by a 3.0-litre, turbocharged 6-cylinder engine like the M340i sedan. However, in the X3, this engine develops 355 BHP and 500 Nm. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system.

Force Gurkha Update (BS6 Phase-2 compliant)

Force Motors is gearing up to introduce the updated Gurkha with an RDE-compliant powertrain. The latest reports suggest that production of the BS6 version has been stopped.

As per a Delhi-based dealer, the new Gurkha with a BS6 Phase 2-complaint engine is expected to reach showrooms by May end.

Coming to the specifics of the updated Gurkha shared by the Force Motors dealer, the SUV is expected to receive a significant performance boost. It will be offered with 18-inch wheels and a larger touchscreen infotainment system. He also stated that the old-school lever to engage 4×4 is expected to be replaced with a knob.

Hyundai Exter

Hyundai has released a digital sketch of its upcoming Exter compact crossover. It is expected to be officially unveiled in the near future.

The Hyundai Exter will be positioned below the Venue and is expected to compete with the Tata Punch. It could be offered with the same 1.2-litre petrol engine that powers the Grand i10 NIOS and Aura.

 

Kia Seltos Facelift

Hyundai has begun series production of the Exter sub-4 meter SUV in India at its Chennai plant. The car will be launched on July 10 as a rival to the Tata Punch and Citroen C3.

Powering the Exter will be the 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that can also be found in the Grand i10 NIOS and Aura. The engine will be paired with a 5-speed manual and AMT. The Exter will also be offered with a factory-fitted CNG kit.

Maruti Suzuki Invicto

Maruti Suzuki has announced the launch of the Invicto. The Toyota Innova Hycross-based MPV is priced at Rs 24.79 lakh (ex-showroom).

Powering the Invicto is a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol hybrid that makes 183 BHP and is paired with an e-CVT. Maruti claims a fuel economy of 23.24 km/l. The car can also run in pure electric mode.

Kia Seltos facelift unveil

Kia has taken the wraps off the Seltos facelift in India. The updated SUV is expected to go on sale next month, but pre-bookings will open on July 14.

The 2023 Kia Seltos is powered by 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. Kia is also offering a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine option. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and automatic as well as a CVT, while the turbo-petrol unit comes with an iMT or a 7-speed DCT.

Second-generation Mercedes-Benz GLC

Mercedes-Benz has teased the next-generation GLC ahead of its official launch. The official images showcase a camouflaged test mule of the upcoming SUV.

The new GLC is longer and has wider front and rear tracks than before. While the overall width remains the same, its wheelbase has increased slightly.
